This was the first solo album recorded by Natalie Merchant after her departure from the group 10,000 Maniacs. It was a humble and understated, self-produced project. She chose to work with a core group of young and relatively inexperienced musicians and recorded in the familiar surrounding of Woodstock, NY once again. Three very popular radio singles (“Carnival”, “Wonder” & “Jealousy”) propelled the album and artist to reach a much wider audience. Five million copies of TIGERLILY were sold.
