Northeast US Tour Announcement: A Summer Evening with Natalie Merchant

· News, Tour

Natalie has announced a summer tour of intimate venues across the Northeast United States. With few exceptions, these are towns where she’s never performed.

“I’ve reached a point in my career of wanting unique experiences on tour, of not settling for the predictable routing and venues. Last July, Erik and I had a very pleasant experience touring the United Kingdom as an acoustic duo. This Summer, we’ve decided to do a tour of New England following the same format as last year, steering clear of big cities and playing unique and intimate venues in small, picturesque towns. We’re looking forward to seeing the rocky coast of Maine, the green rolling hills of Vermont, the historic village squares and white steepled churches of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. I imagine we will meet many locals and visitors seeking the same sort of experience that we are and I expect the audiences and the settings will inspire us.” – Natalie

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 12 at 10am ET.

Natalie to perform at Cyndi Lauper’s “Home For The Holidays” Benefit Concert in NYC

· News, Tour

Cyndi Lauper has announced the lineup for her 8th annual Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays benefit concert. The event will take place December 8th at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. This year’s concert will also celebrate the tenth anniversary of the True Colors Fund, which was co-founded by Lauper.

Natalie will make an appearance, as will a host of guests including Amanda Palmer, Angie Stone, A$AP Rocky, Bebe Rexha, Bishop Briggs, Charlie Musselwhite, Dr. Elmo, Gina Yashere, Regina Spektor, Robert Glasper, Sara Ramirez, Shea Diamond, and The Knocks. The evening will be hosted by Carson Kressley.

“LGBTQ youth are strong, brave, and resilient,” said Lauper. “At Home for the Holidays, we’ll raise our voices in solidarity with LGBTQ young people – and raise money to support the True Colors Fund’s work to end homelessness among LGBTQ youth. I’m so grateful to the artists for donating their time and talent to bring attention to this important cause.”

100% of the net proceeds from the concert will support the True Colors Fund’s programs to prevent and end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. In America, up to 40% of youth experiencing homelessness are LGBTQ and, according to a recent study from Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, LGBTQ young people are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than non-LGBTQ youth.

Hudson Valley Votes Event on Oct 20th in Kingston

· News

With the crucial mid-term elections nearly upon us on November 6th, a group of concerned citizens has banded together with local and nationally recognized artists to present an evening of music, performance and activism.

Natalie will perform and is serving as Artistic Director for HUDSON VALLEY VOTES on Saturday, October 20th at UPAC. The line-up of Hudson Valley based musicians and actors performing include: Aaron Dessner of The National, singer-songwriter Dar Williams, actress and filmmaker Mary Stuart Masterson, actors Paul Rudd and Lili Taylor, activist and author Eve Ensler and many more. Progressive Democratic candidates and elected officials will join artists on stage, including NY19 Candidate Antonio Delgado.

On October 20th at UPAC, Hudson Valley artists will engage in the political process by using their voices in support of our progressive Democratic candidates. We have seen recent elections in upstate NY decided by just a handful of votes. Anyone who thinks his or her vote doesn’t matter needs to think again; everyone must participate in this midterm election. The fate of not just our region, state or country depends upon it…the destiny of the entire world will be determined by the outcome of this vote. -Natalie
