Cabinet of Wonder: The Value of Teaching Nursery Rhymes

The National Head Start Association (NHSA) will host a virtual event called Cabinet of Wonder: The Value of Teaching Nursery Rhymes. This roundtable discussion with Natalie Merchant, Dr. Dana L. Suskind, and Dr. Deborah Bergeron will be held from 2:00-3:00 EST on November 5th. 

Why should traditional nursery rhymes still be used in early learning classrooms? While these rhymes are sometimes seen as outdated, research shows that these classic texts can be valuable teaching tools for young children. When early childhood educators facilitate thoughtful, structured discussions around them, these rhymes help create engaging and meaningful learning experiences for children.
